Cops and Robbers

The children at Lindale love to play goodies and baddies which gave us the idea of creating a detective area in the classroom and linking this with some traditional tales such as ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ and  ‘The Gingerbreadman’.  The children have been keen to make badges, telephones, walkie talkies, wanted posters, lists of goodies and baddies, clues for finding baddies, maps and much more.

Robotics’ Day

BAE Systems came in to lead a Robotics Day today. Year 4, 5 and 6 had a fantastic day modifying and programming robots to complete different challenges!

The Iron Man visits Lindale School

Year 3 and 4 made a discovery! In the night, the Iron Man came into our field and munched his way through some metal. Year 3 and 4 interviewed some eye witnesses to report on the incident.

Spheros!

Year 3 and 4 had a fantastic computing lesson last week getting to grips with Spheros. These will be great to extend and transfer computing skills.

The Carnival of Animals

Everybody really enjoyed our visit from the Cumbria Music Service Ensemble today. The children got to listen to the ensemble play, learn about different instruments, play some instruments and did a bit of singing and dancing too!

Aren’t thumbs brilliant?

Mr Russell from Cartmel Secondary School came in this morning to teach Science. The children performed several seemingly simple tasks; once with thumbs free and once with their thumbs taped. The children found out that thumbs are brilliant!

Amazing Artwork

The Year 1 and 2 children have been working hard over the last few weeks on collages of famous landmarks from the USA.  They began by drawing their pictures using a photograph to help.  Then the children began to collage using different types of paper.  Today they finished their work and, I think you will agree, it looks amazing!

Our dance!

We were so proud to perform our dance this week at the Dance Platform at Ulverston Victoria High School. All of the children did really well and lots of the audience were moving in their seats to the music!

How do instruments work?

Year 5 and 6 recapped what they have learnt about sound this half term by creating a presentation to explain how their instrument produced sound, how to change the pitch and how to change the volume.
