Creative Cookies

The children used their measuring skills to make some delicious cookies. Then, they used their creative skills to decorate them!!

Our Residential!

We had a great time on our residential last week. We stayed at High House in Seathwaite which was a great base for all our adventurous activities such as ghyll scrambling, rock climbing, mountain hiking, campfire building, paddle boarding and orienteering.

Out into Lindale

This afternoon, since the sun was shining, we decided to get out into Lindale and do some fieldwork. We sat near the main road to Grange and tallied the different types of vehicles coming past. It was so busy we almost couldn’t keep up! Then we walked up to John Wilkinson’s memorial and did some sketching.

A Countryside Walk

This afternoon EYFS and Y1 went for a walk. We worked with a partner to find all the things on a list. We discovered various plants, bees, trees with different shaped leaves, dry stone walls and other things. It was nice to be out in the fresh air looking for different things in our surroundings.

Year 3/4 Residential

We had an amazing time on our residential. We did lots of exciting activities like canoeing, rock climbing and an educational trip to White Scar Caves. In the evening, the children made their own fires and they got to toast marshmallow.

Discovering Lindale

It was really interesting looking at old maps of Lindale and seeing how our local area has developed over time. Thank you to the staff at Barrow Archive for coming in and delivering the session.

An Awesome Audi Experience

Year 5 and 6 had a great afternoon at Lake District Audi: they made a promotional video for the Audi R8, matched cars to customers and designed their own car of the future. They even got a goody bag, a special lanyard and a couple of teddy prizes for the best video and design. I think we all want an R8 now!

An afternoon out

Children from Early Years and KS1 went out and about in the village today.  We looked for different types of houses we could find in the village (bungalows, terraced, semi detached and detached.)  We marked off on a sheet what we found and drew a picture of a house in the village.

We also played at the play-park in the sunshine and while we were there found Bog Baby, a creature from a story book who had gone missing earlier in the week.

A great day learning about wildlife in the woodland

Today we had a great day in the sunshine learning about the wildlife in the woodland and the importance of conserving and protecting it. We heard a wren and a cuckoo, and year 6 nearly got a glimpse of a deer (it was too fast for us). It was interesting to learn about the different types of flowers and spot some rare ones. Then some of us had a go at cutting back some of the branches overhanging the path. We are looking forward to continuing our conservation work another day!

Grounds Afternoon

Our ‘Grounds Day’ today was really productive.  We have been doing lots of jobs to make school look nicer, such as litter picking, planting flowers, weeding and sweeping.  It was a lovely sunny afternoon and we all worked really hard on our activities and enjoyed ourselves too.
