Cookery fun

We have been lucky, this week, to have Dave the chef come and do some cooking with us.  He showed us how to make flapjack and we had the chance to weigh ingredients, pour, mix and (best of all) eat!  We can’t wait to do some more cooking with him next week.

Conquer the maze!

Year 5 and 6 used their computing skills today to program a Sphero to navigate through a maze they had created.

Dance Platform

Today we had our first rehearsal for ‘Dance Platform’. Lucy came into school to begin to choreograph the dance which has a theme of ‘Skeletons’.  We had a brilliant time learning the dance.

Forces

In science this week, we have been learning about friction. We did an experiment using toy cars and different surfaces to see which surface had the most resistance.

Newton Metres

It was really interesting learning about gravity today. We linked our Science lesson to our work with measurements in Maths by using Newton metres to measure the force of gravity.

A great start to the year!

We’ve had a great start to the new year! Yesterday, we used scratch paper to create our own space artwork. Today, year 5 and 6 made astrolabes (linked to the book Phoenix); Mr Russell came in and we explored water tension; and this afternoon we made the history of space timelines.

End of term

We have had a lovely couple of weeks leading up to Christmas; with our play ‘Hoodwinked’, nativity service at church, Christmas jumper day, Christmas lunch and class parties.  It has been lots of fun doing all these things as well as making decorations, party hats and Christmas cards.

Christmas Fun!!

We have had lots of fun this week. We played musical statues, flip the kipper and wrap the snowman. We also decorated some biscuits! YUM! YUM!

Sphero HO HO!

We used our computing, maths, DT and problem solving skills this morning. Santa needed our help: he needed us to design a sleigh to fit around a sphero that would carry the most amount of presents possible.

Getting in the Christmas spirit!

We really enjoyed listening to Christmas music today while sewing our Christmas tree decorations.
